MyPhotoBooks saved album location
The MyPhotoBooks program supplied by www.photobook.com.my is a great application for designing beautiful photo album for printing. However, I was frustrated over the limited (or nil) configuration and technical capability of the program. For example, when you add a photo located in your hard drive, MyPhotoBooks program does not copy the file, but only make a reference to it. Therefore, if you're working on an album half way and need to change the location of your source photo files, there's no settings which allow an update of the location of the photo files. Does that mean you have to re-add all those photos again from the new location?
Fortunately, there's a workaround. All albums created using MyPhotoBooks are saved as [album name].phb file in C:\Documents and Settings\[User]\.PhotoBook\books\. These phb files are in XML format, and contains all the layout design done from the MyPhotoBooks program, including the full file path of each photo you've added into your album. Therefore, you can use notepad to open the phb file, and perform a mass string replace, e.g. replace c:\temp\oldpicturefolder\ with c:\temp\newpicturefolder\.
I did this on my own risk, so do you. Therefore remember to backup the phb file prior performing the mass string replace. Also ensure that you did not start the MyPhotoBooks program when you do so.
Updates: Since MyPhotoBook application is powered by DigiLabs, this solution might apply to DigiLab's photo book application as well. Do check out DigiLabs discussion forum as well.
